urgently asking for a ride. can i call some i called an uber and i m supposed to be waiting for it over here, but i don t know when it s coming. can you call me for it please? reporter: the resident invited brooks in, even gave him a sandwich, without knowing the circumstances. authorities say the red suv used to hurt so many had been left in a nearby backyard and police were not far behind. hands up. put your hands where i can see them. whoa, whoa, whoa. brooks was taken into custody, adding to a long criminal history dating back to the 1990s. as recently as november 2nd, court documents show brooks used his car to hit a woman claiming to be the mother of his child. the criminal complaint alleges brooks, quote, intentionally and without consent ran her over with his vehicle while she was walking through the parking lot of a gas station. cnn reached out to brooks
