According to the report, more than half of the respondents also reported that their canine and feline friends helped ease depression and anxiety and gave purpose to their lives.

(Courtesy photo) With National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30, individuals and families may be looking for the just the right pet to help make their house a home. Santa Barbara County-based Facebook group, 805 Available Shelter and Rescue Pets, is working with its members and the community to match pets with the right families in hopes it will help take the burden off local shelter staff and volunteers. 805 Available Shelter and Rescue Pets was created in 2017, and since its founding has grown to nearly 2,500 members. The efforts of its members have connected countless pets with forever homes. Their work became especially important this past year due to the pandemic.
