FARMINGDALE The Madison and Hall-Dale softball teams have been regarded as the teams to beat in the Mountain Valley Conference if not all of Class C this season.
Their lone regular season matchup certainly defended that notion.
Lily Platt’s sacrifice fly scored Zoe Soule and capped a three-run, seventh-inning rally that lifted Hall-Dale to a 4-3 victory over Madison on Monday afternoon.

GRAY Skye Chandler had a double, triple and two-run home run and Morgan Curtis had a double and two RBIs as Gray-New Gloucester edged Lake Region 9-8 in WMC softball action Monday.
Madi Pelletier got the pitching win for the Patriots (4-1) by scattering five hits while striking out five. Chandler’s double in the bottom of the seventh scored two for the walk-off win.

MONMOUTH Brooklyn Federico threw a one-hitter while striking out 12, and Emma Johnson had a home run among her two hits to lead the Monmouth softball team to a 12-3 victory over Mountain Valley on Monday.
Federico had three hits for Monmouth (1-0), while Kayla Truman had a double among two hits. Abby Flanagan had a triple and Katie Laliberte had a double for the Mustangs, who totaled 11 hits.
Autumn Freeman had a triple for Mountain Valley (0-1).
