Among the new bills signed into law Thursday by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore is a bill called "Lochlin's Law," which creates mandates for sepsis care in hospitals.
It's official, Lochlin's Law is now on the books in Maryland, more than four years after the tragic passing of a 5-year-old boy. His parents say they hope the law will prevent other families from dealing with the same pain and loss.
Lochlin DeSantis of Maryland was just five years old in January 2020 when he came down with the flu. Just three days later, he died of sepsis, which kills one American every 90 seconds.
