RIVERDALE, Bronx (WABC) A man died when fire burned through his apartment in the Riverdale section of the Bronx Wednesday morning. The 84-year-old victim was trapped in his second floor apartment on Arlington Avenue after the fire broke out at around 2:10 a.m. The building s superintendent went floor by floor, knocking on doors and rousting residents.

Bronx fire: Firefighters battle blaze at house in Wakefield

It broke out before 6:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Penfield Street in Wakefield. Video from NewsCopter 7 showed heavy smoke coming from the upper floor of the building. Earlier video posted on the Citizen app showed heavy flames coming from the home. Multiple firefighting units were on the scene. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

MORRISANIA, The Bronx (WABC) A 16-year-old boy who was shot outside a deli in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon has died. Bronx resident James Solano was outside the King Deli and Grocery on Boston Road in Morrisania around 12:10 p.m. when a gunman opened fire. Surveillance video shows a suspect in a white mask pat the Solano on the back, and then the suspect reaches into his jacket and waits for the teen to walk past him on the street. It s not clear if the two were still talking, but now the gun is out, and it is aimed. The suspect fires just one shot.
