The 110,000 seats available to elementary and middle school students in the second year of the city’s “Summer Rising” program have filled at a rapid clip since registration opened last Monday.
As of 5pm Tuesday, 62,000 kids from Kindergarten to eighth grade had registered for a spot in the city’s second-annual “Summer Rising” program filling more than half of the 110,000 total available seats in less than 48 hours, according to the Education Department.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is not happy that the state Legislature is expected to include mayoral control of the city’s public schools in their one-house budget resolutions.
