Mizzou no-hits its way to the Super Regionals
We spend a looooooooot of time on Rock M Nation really digging into the minutae of sports. Analytics, advanced numbers, predictive formulas that kind of stuff. So you know that when I give you the following analysis, it’s dependable.
Ahem: Making sure the other team didn’t score at all is
good. In fact, it might even be the best thing you could do.
I know I’m going out on a limb here, but the method has proven itself. After all, just look at Mizzou Softball, which didn’t allow a single run in its regional weekend, blanking Illinois-Chicago, Northern Iowa and Iowa State and sending the Cyclones out in style on the program’s 40th no-hitter of all time.

On Thursday, it was announced that shortstop Jenna Laird, who ranks 2nd in the SEC in batting average at .433 (and leads all freshmen), was named a finalist one of 30 for the NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year. Since COVID knocked out last season, any player who was a freshman in 2020 or 2021 is eligible for the award.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Freshman Morgan Cross completed an epic comeback against Missouri’s Valentina Vazquez Pongruber on day one of the SEC Tournament on Monday evening, securing a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win to clinch the team victory and lift No. 30 Arkansas over Mizzou 4-3.
The Hogs won the doubles point with big wins on courts two and three. The Tigers took the first doubles match on court one, but senior Jackie Carr and sophomore Kelly Keller quickly responded with a 6-4 win on court three. Freshman Indianna Spink and partner senior Lauren Alter defeated Gabrielle Goldin and Serena Nash 7-5 and the Razorbacks took a 1-0 advantage into singles play.
