Take for example, the footpaths on 6th Cross in Malleswaram, which remain outdated, using large stone slabs as the walking surface. Over time, several of these slabs have broken, posing a direct threat to pedestrians’ lives. “Ironically, authorities invest in well-constructed roads for vehicles, but neglect the safety of pedestrians who rely on footpaths,” said Suresh Kamat, a resident of Malleswaram. “The footpaths in many roads of Malleswaram are in a pathetic condition, and I’ve witnessed many people falling due to these broken slabs.”
