CONCORD, N.H. – At one point during Saturday night’s Division III hockey championship game at Everett Arena, Hollis Brookline-Derryfield’s Conor Sanborn skated over to the small crowd of Warrior fans and gestured for them to cheer.
It was that kind of night for the Warriors and their fans, who really didn’t have a lot to cheer about as Berlin-Gorham skated up and down and all the way around to a 5-1 title win.
Special teams lift Mountaineers to semifinals
March 10, 2021BERLIN The Berlin-Gorham boys hockey team utilized three shorthanded goals en route to a 6-2 victory over the Plymouth-Kearsarge Cats this past Saturday at the Notre Dame Arena. The win catapults the Mountaineers into the semifinal round of the NHIAA Division III hockey playoffs to be played Wednesday, March 10, at Everett Arena in Concord against the Lebanon-Stevens-Mount Royal Red Raiders. The Mountaineers struggled against the Raiders this season, going 1-2-1 in four regular season matchups against them.
On Saturday, Brody Duquette would open the scoring in the first period as he streaked down the right wing side and entered the offensive zone before firing a seeing eye slapshot past Cats goaltender Gavin Garzia to give the Mountaineers a first period lead. Joanah Berthiume started the play by chipping the puck out of the defensive zone off the glass to find a streaking Duquette through the neutral zone. The two team
