A young motorist who killed a teenage girl while hooning and showing off outside a birthday party in the southern WA town of Esperance has been sentenced to more than seven-and-a-half years in jail.

Gibbard, who was with his girlfriend, then drove away in his badly damaged car, leaving other partygoers to attend to Ms Scott as she lay by the side of the road.
