Eight people were arraigned on grand jury indictments this week in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.
Karl Kahler Jr., 59, of Lima, pleaded not guilty to one count each of robbery and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer (fleeing), each a felony of the third degree; grand theft, a felony of the fourth degree; and theft, a fifth-degree felony. A $100,000 cash bond was set in the case and Kahler will appear for a pretrial conference at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 24.
Christopher Caldwell, 32, of Van Wert, entered not guilty pleas to one count each of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer (fleeing), a felony of the third degree; and obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony offense. A $25,000 cash bond was set in the case and Caldwell will appear for a pretrial conference at 8:30 p.m Thursday, March 25.

BOND VIOLATION
Joshua Lesko,
32, Ohio City, admitted to violating his bond by contacting the victim
in violation of his no-contact order. A new bond was set at $10,000 cash
or commercial surety. Sentencing was previously set for March 1.
Ashley
McCarthy, 37, Van Wert, admitted to violating her bond by failing to
obtain electronic house arrest. A new bond was set at $5,000 cash or
commercial surety. A telephone pretrial was set for Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.

A total of 11 people were arraigned on grand jury indictments handed down on Friday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.
Sonny Metzger, 46, of Van Wert, pleaded not guilty to one count each of involuntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree; corrupting another with drugs and complicity, each a felony of the second degree; conspiracy, a third-degree felony; and trafficking in a Fentanyl compound, a felony of the fifth degree. Metzger was ordered held on a $100,000 cash bond and will appear for a pretrial conference at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 28. A jury trial has been scheduled for April 5.
