Cowlitz flexes muscle in 9-3 win over Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD – The Black Bears showed their brawn.
Four previous games this summer between the Ridgefield Raptors and Cowlitz were close. The average margin of victory between the Southwest Washington rivals was just two runs.
But a lopsided game finally arrived in the Columbia River Cup series. Tuesday, Cowlitz dominated all facets of a 9-3 win at Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.
Cowlitz outslugged Ridgefield, knocking three home runs, tallying 11 hits and scoring in six innings.
Cowlitz outpitched Ridgefield, holding the West Coast League’s highest scoring team to just four hits.

The first four hitters in the UCSB lineup combined for eight hits and eight RBI. Jordan Sprinkle and Zach Rodriguez each had two hits and a RBI and Cole Cummings had a hit and drove in a run.
The Gauchos jumped on Oklahoma State lefty starter Mitchell Stone for seven runs and eight hits in the first 1.1 innings and kept the pressure on reliever Trevor Martin, scoring four runs on three hits in 1.2 innings.
UCSB starting pitcher Cory Lewis went eight innings on the mound and allowed one run and four hits. Jorge Arrellano gave two runs in the ninth before finishing the game.
