Blindness at the Donmar Warehouse Helen Maybanks
As New York regulations begin to allow performance venues to reopen their doors, Off-Broadwayâs Daryl Roth Theatre welcomes audiences back to its space beginning April 2 for the socially distanced sound and light experience
Blindness. The open-ended engagement marks one of the first live, ticketed events to open in New York City since the coronavirus shutdown.
Inspired by José Saramagoâs dystopian novel and adapted by Simon Stephens, the piece charts perhaps familiar territoryâa sudden global pandemicâthat leaves its victims without sight. Audiences experience the story, as narrated by Olivier winner Juliet Stevenson, through binaural headphone technology while immersed in an atmospheric design.

Derek DelGaudio Matthew Murphy
Derek DelGaudioâs one-person show
In & Of Itself, which played Off-Broadway s Daryl Roth Theatre in 2017 following an engagement at Los Angeles Geffen Playhouse, debuted on Hulu January 22.
Directed by Frank Oz, the film made its world premiere at the Montclair Film Festival this past fall. The project chronicles conceptual storyteller DelGaudioâs attempt to understand the illusory nature of identity. His journey expands to a collective experience that forces us to confront the boundaries of our own identities.
During the productionâs Off-Broadway run, DelGaudio gave Playbill an exclusive look at the stage. While the show did not have a typical scenic designer, everything was created and designed by DelGaudio himself and his long-time collaborator, Glenn Kaino.
