yes. i was changing planes in atlanta and a man told me he was from mississippi and he said he liked you. he was a white, older gentleman. he said he s i said i don t know whether that s a compliment or not. but i think that the broadness of your appeal but you re not run ago way fr running away from who you are is a balance that is striking. i m a democrat. i embrace that, no problem with that. but this election i don t have a d behind my name because there is no r behind the other s names either. i m running as mike espy, someone who reverend knows who has already served the people of mississippi as a congressman. when i ran in 1986, i received 80% of the black white and when i left there after three full terms, elected to my fourth term, i got 95% of the black
at brett kavanaugh s lifetime of public service, the fact that he was an excellent judge, well qualified according to the aba, and of course susan collins did an excellent job of laying out really his judicial middle of the roadness. he s right there in the mainstream, and she lead it out beautifully yesterday. when you re talking about the testimony that was given by everybody, to the judiciary committee. in addition to the fbi report, let s listen to what both folks of the aisle have said about this report. here it is, sir. what we know for sure is the fbi report did not corroboration any of the allegations against judge kavanaugh. it looks to be the product of an incomplete investigation that was limited, perhaps by the white house. i feel very good about where this nomination is right now. the whole thing is a sham. the senators who requested the
ladies who managed to occupy if not a non-partisan position then at least one that seemed to be above politics. do you think she has had it more difficult because of the unpopularity of her husband? this is a great example of what you are saying. marshall trump gave eight speeches her first year in office. michelle obama gave 74, and laura bush gave 42. yes, she is different. yes her public activity has represented a steep drop-off from her predator desors but i would encourage people despite the broadness of this initiative be careful before you call the first lady a hypocrite. but a she s not the cyber bully. her husband is. it s just as hypocritical for him to be cyber bullying and personally insulting people on line when he knows this is important to his wife and he s the most visible role model that will our nation s children do have. and so that standard is very, very tough on first ladies.
issue. i think the broadness of the issue lends itself to the broadness of our coalition. some folks reaching out to you as one of the leaders locally and nationally on this topic. who do you think has matched your energy, matched your purpose? democrats? republicans? independents? who is matching what you want done? i think the democratic party is in our corner, but not every democratic. this is not a partisan issue. we re interested in supporting any candidate regardless of their party affiliation who is interested in protecting our lives. what is next? you never get asked that, right? yes. like i said, we re interested in sustained action. we just organized a letter-writing campaign to members of congress. we re in the planning stages of a town hall with some of our representatives, including our
comey. two, his role in crafting a misleading statement on the trump tower meeting with the russians. three, his dangling of pardons before grand jury witnesses who may testify against him, and four, pressuring attorney general jeff sessions not to recuse himself from the russia investigation. susan, where s president trump most vulnerable here as you look at those four? well, he s probably most i think it s not one or the other. i think it s just the overall broadness of that wanting to prevent justice from happening and prevent the investigation. and that s a better narrative for the folks, for the justice department, frankly, if they re going to pursue this. none of those four on its own would necessarily lead to criminal charges. it doesn t seem that s where they re going. just to talk about the fact that
