Wickford High Street Parts of two busy Wickford roads are set to be pedestrianised for a trial period. Essex County Council have confirmed motor vehicles will be prohibited from stretches of Wickford High Street and Market Road one day every week. The High Street will be off limits from its junction with Station Approach to its link-up with the A129 London Road. Market Road, meanwhile, cannot be entered from its junction with the High Street. The new restrictions, which are described as an experiment, will apply every Saturday between 5am and 6pm. The regulations are set to come into force from May 8 and are due to last for a maximum of 18 months.
