The Broadcasting Research Council (BRC) audience ratings for the month of March shows that on 30 March the isiXhosa news was viewed by 3,823,686 people. Grootboom took to the SABC news studios to read her final bulletin at 7pm that evening. Initially, President Cyril Ramaphosa was to address the nation at the same time but moved his address so people could watch Grootboom for the last time. Picture: Twitter|The Citizen ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - There is a new show, outside the already popular telenovelas, that is dominating ratings on DStv. eHostela is a crime drama series exploring the dangerous and unpredictable world of paid assassins.  Launched in January 2019, the shows airs every Sunday at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic. The second season’s first episode aired on 3 January and the series, for the first time, reached second place in ratings, according to the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA). The show displaced telenovela The Queen for second spot. The Fergusons’ show has been on our screens for over four years.

This follows just after reports that the show’s viewership is dropping. According to the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa, the viewership dropped in December last year, resulting in a major loss of almost 4,4 million viewers.
