Despite unopposed races, Clintonville Area Commission voting will proceed May 1

SportsUSA TODAYObituariesE-EditionLegals Jim Fischer ThisWeek Unopposed is the operative word in the Clintonville Area Commission races, in which one candidate is running in each of the three districts set to elect commission representatives.  Candidates are incumbents Brittany Boulton in District 5 and Michael Weinman in District 7 and newcomer Hugh Crowell in District 4 where current commissioner Judy Minister did not seek reelection.  CAC Election Committee chair Ann Henkener said voting still will be held and each candidate must receive at least one vote to officially be elected.  Voting is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1 outdoors between the Whetstone Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Whetstone Community Center, 3923 N. High St. For more information, go to clintonvilleareacommission.org

Clintonville Area Commission election: Three districts up for vote attract one candidate each

SportsUSA TODAYObituariesE-EditionLegals Jim Fischer ThisWeek Only one candidate has filed petitions with the Clintonville Area Commission in each of the three districts set to elect commission representatives in 2021.  Incumbents Brittany Boulton in District 5 and Michael Weinman in District 7 are seeking reelection.  Hugh Crowell will run in District 4, where commissioner Judy Minister had announced she will not seek reelection.  “The CAC has been looking for candidates all along and write-in candidates are welcome,” said Ann Henkener, election committee chair. “The deadline for submitting a candidate packet for write-in candidates is (April 2).”    Henkener added that the three candidate packets returned were the only ones picked up, and that all three races will be uncontested unless write-in candidates are received by April 2.

Candidate packets available Feb 20 for Clintonville Area Commission election

SportsUSA TODAYObituariesE-EditionLegals Jim Fischer Residents in three Clintonville Area Commission districts will elect representatives this year.  The CAC approved its election committee’s recommended timeline at its Feb. 4 meeting, starting with the availability of candidate petitions at the Whetstone branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library beginning Feb. 20.  Individuals residing in districts 4, 5 and 7 who are interested in running should pick up packets, which include information on the CAC, commissioner responsibilities and election information, said Ann Henkener, committee chair.  “A great way of getting voter participation is to have engaging candidates,” Henkener said. “So we are trying to make sure potential candidates know about the openings and that we continue to get great candidates.”
