Portion of M-185 to be closed for repaving on Mackinac Island beginning May 17
Cheboygan Daily Tribune
MACKINAC ISLAND A two mile portion of M-185 the state trunkline highway that runs around the popular destination of Mackinac Island has been closed by the Michigan Department of Transportation for repaving.
The road was closed to traffic beginning May 17, with the expected completion date to be around the middle of October. The work being done includes the completion of pavement on the roadway and securing the roadway after it had been damaged from high water and erosion. The closed section of road will have several large construction vehicles moving throughout it. Barricades will be placed at either end. Going around a barricade is exceedingly dangerous and people found going around the barricade are subject to a ticket and fine, said Dominick Miller, chief of marketing for Mackinac State Historic Parks in a press release.
