UK to help Pakistan mainstream valuing natural resources

Islamabad : Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the earth’s natural resources, biodiversity and ecosystems, which collectively make up our planet’s core natural capital, is now at risk of fast depleting because of over-exploitation of the resources.
“However, sustainable use of the natural capital, which actually provides the foundation for sustainability of the life on earth and overall socioeconomic development of current and future generations, is vital to its sustainability for generating ecosystem services for the lasting human well-being,” he said while addressing a high-level regarding signing of ‘Letter of Support on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA)’ between the British High Commission Islamabad, UK Statistics Authority and the Ministry of Climate Change held here on Thursday.

Ehingbeti, the Lagos Economic Summit, will begin tomorrow with notable business leaders and political figures across the globe joining the private sector in setting agenda for Lagos State towards the next decade.

Themed, ‘For a Greater Lagos: Setting The Tone For The Next Decade’, Ehingbeti 2021 has drawn about 150 speakers from across the world to discuss and deliberate on pragmatic optimization of the inherent opportunities in Africa’s 5th largest economy and offer perspectives on how to manage the peculiar socio-economic landscape of Lagos State in the coming decade.

President Muhammadu Buhari; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu; and the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will be among the dignitaries that will speak at Ehingbeti, the Lagos Economic Summit, which will begin tomorrow.
