She is the associate professor at george mason university. Her talk this evening is being held in conjunction with our current exhibition revolutionary reflections french memories of the war for america, which is on view doctor pecker row will be discussing war and the enlightenment in the context of french experiences during the American Revolution. Many french officers of this era, such as rochambeau, consider themselves military philosophers who brought enlightenment and philosophical spirit to their enterprises. Their experiences had a profound impact on their politics and worldviews when they returned to france after the war. Today, were going to talk about american women and world war ii. And this is obviously a huge topic, we can spend an entire semester just on this topic alone. So were going to try to break it down into three different spaces and were going to look at a lot of images to kind of fit in with the other things weve talked about. So we are going to talk about american women in three ways. Were going to talk about women at home. Women at work. And women at war. So were going to kind of organize our ideas this way, and again were going to look at a lot of the propaganda, we have been talking about propaganda throughout this semester and watching videos and things like that. We have photograph images. And you can follow those photographs over time and see how he changed, how he aged. And of course we have images of f. D. R. We even have some images of him in his wheelchair. And generally the press did not take images of him in his wheelchair.
