This week on SULUAU, Sista C presents a TRIBUTE to the life and legacy of Charan Gill, co-founder of the Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society and recipient of such awards as The Order of British Columbia, Honorary Doctor of Laws. He served on the 411 Senior Centre Society Board of Directors for three years during which he helped the Center add senior housing to their future new building. Marion Pollack, Board Chair will facilitate the speakers paying homage to Mr. Gill, including The Hon. Raj Chauhan, Speaker of BC s Legislative Assembly, who co-founded the British Columbia Organization to Fight Racism with him; and Sarwan Boal who assisted in founding PIC and organizing Canadian farmworkers and improving their working conditions.

Charan Gill, a pillar of B.C. s South Asian community lauded for his work in the province s human rights and labour movements, has died at the age of 84, his family announced Tuesday. A post on Gill s Facebook page said he passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital with his family by his side after a battle with cancer.
