The Chinese government criticizes Taiwan for acquiring more than 1 million doses of the novel coronavirus vaccine developed by Britain s AstraZeneca Plc from Japan.
The Japanese government is arranging to provide Taiwan with some of its supply of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the month, as the self-ruled island struggles to procure shots, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi says
The country's health ministry also said it would exempt those who had received at least one dose from a ban on gatherings of more than eight direct family members.

TOKYO, May 25 (Xinhua) Around 7,300 people in Tokyo and Osaka received COVID-19 shots at mass vaccination centers opened Monday and staffed by personnel from Japan s Self Defense Forces (SDF), local media said Tuesday.
As Japan seeks to increase the pace of its slow vaccination rollout, 4,876 out of 5,000 people who made reservations were administered shots at the large-scale center in Tokyo s Otemachi district, while in Kita ward in Osaka city, 2,472 out of 2,500 were inoculated.
On day one of the facilities operations, the defense ministry said that the unused doses were given to non-SDF healthcare workers.
