National Corrections Day Honours and Awards recipients
A number of medals and awards were presented as a part of the National Corrections Day celebration on Friday.

Subscriber only Two custodial corrections officers have been assaulted with a broom leading to the lockdown of Brisbane Women s jail. A female prisoner was out of her cell and wanted to go back inside and seriously assaulted two staff, a man and a woman, just before midday. Both staff were taken to hospital, with one with having an injury to their face and the other having a head injury.
Queensland Corrective Services can confirm that two officers were injured in an incident with a prisoner at Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre shortly.

QCS Top Dogs crowned
General Purpose dog Tallis and Passive Alert Drug Detection dog Thommo have been crowned QCS Top Dogs for 2020.
The QCS Top Dog winners were announced yesterday, with Townsville Correctional Complex and Wolston and Brisbane Women’s correctional centres scooping the pool in the five part virtual competition.

GP dog Tallis and his handler Ryan wowed the judges with their in-synch, enthusiastic performance in the obedience and agility sections of the competition, while PADD dog Thommo and his handler Scott from Wolston and Brisbane Women’s showed their mettle in the search challenge.
