Assault and harassment allegations have now been made against students from a number of Queensland public schools including Kelvin Grove State College and Brisbane State High School students. Mossman State High School, Lockyer District High School and William Ross State High School were also named. A Department of Education spokeswoman said yesterday while schools provided respectful relationships education, it is primarily up to parents and carers to educate children about sexuality and relationships .

More than half of the students enrolled in the foundation year at two inner-city state secondary colleges reside outside the designated catchment zones, despite the campuses being built to alleviate crippling enrolment pressure at nearby schools.

The new Brisbane South State Secondary College has opened this year with 203 students, 65 per cent of which are from outside the designated catchment area.
Fortitude Valley State Secondary College opened in 2020 with 55.5 per cent of students outside of catchment, which reduced to 46.5 in 2021.
