Brisbaneâs latest COVID outbreak has grown to 47 after 16 new local cases were recorded on Tuesday, with growing concerns health authorities will struggle to contain the delta cluster before the eight-day lockdown ends on Sunday.
While the outbreak has so far been mostly contained to seven schools in Brisbane, the worst fears of health authorities were confirmed on Tuesday afternoon with a new positive case in Cairns.
Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said he hoped the eight-day lockdown would be enough to contain the latest COVID-19 outbreak.Â
