Chimney fire and false alarms caused by cooking A CHIMNEY fire and false alarms were just some of the incidents attended by firefighters in Dorset this week. On January 27 at around 11.10pm, a Gillingham fire crew used a chimney kit, thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder to extinguish a chimney fire in Bugley. Yesterday, January 28, at around 5.45pm, firefighters from Sturminster Newton Fire Station were called to a false alarm on Brinsley Close, caused by fumes from cooking. A similar incident happened at the weekend in Blandford. On Saturday, January 23, at around 1pm, the Blandford crew was called to East Street to deal with the false alarm caused by cooking.
