The Oceanside Fire Department said firefighters worked to contain the blaze to the end of the pier, which is nearly 2,000 feet long and was built in 1888
The fire was “an all-hands-on-deck” situation. The response included 144 firefighters, 30 lifeguards and 32 police officers. A construction company on-site to dredge the harbor also sent a boat to help.
On April 25, social media erupted as reports and images spread of a fire burning on the iconic Oceanside Pier, the well-known surf spot in San Diego County.
