Dozens of beached whales killed in Indonesia s Madura Island - Hiru News - Srilanka s Number One News Portal, Most visited website in Sri Lanka

Saturday, 20 February 2021 - 12:10 East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that 46 whales stranded on a beach on the Indonesian island of Madura have died, while the three whales were pushed back into the waters by the volunteers. The efforts to returns the mammals back to the sea were launched early as Thursday after dozens of pilot whales were beached on the Madura Island. Speaking further, the Governor stated that two excavators were brought in to bury the dead animals today (20) once the tide had receded. Video clips from the whale stranding showed several residents trying to push whales back into the sea, as well as splashing water onto the animals, while some people were seen mounting the stranded animals and taking photos.
