On May 6, the Uttar Pradesh government announced a compensation of Rs 30 lakh for the families of teachers and shiksha mitras who died during the recent panchayat polls.
This happened after the Allahabad High Court took cognisance of the death of 135 such polling officers.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also tweeted on May 1 that over 700 teachers who were on poll duty during Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections died of Covid-19.
The Kanpur Police had filed a case of gangrape and criminal intimidation.

Two days after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men in her village in Uttar Pradesh s Kanpur, her father died this morning in a road accident outside a hospital where she was taken for medical examination.
The father of two accused in the gang-rape case - Deepu Yadav and Saurabh Yadav - works as a sub-inspector with the Uttar Pradesh Police in the Kannauj district, about 100 km from Kanpur.
