WAXHAW, N.C. (WBTV) - A woman and horse are recovering after a vicious dog attacked a horse-drawn carriage ride in Union County last weekend.
The dog attack was caught on a cell phone video that has since gone viral.
It happened last Saturday at a park in Waxhaw.
What was supposed to be a calm horse-drawn carriage ride turned into a nightmare when a dog got loose from its owner and began biting the horse.

All was peaceful at Cane Creek Park when chaos suddenly ensued. A dog triggered by something took off after a horse pulling a carriage full of people.
Horse owner Bridger Medlin said this happened Saturday on the first day of carriage rides of the season. It was the last ride of the day. We had a family on the carriage. There were families and kids everywhere,â Bridger Medlin, the horseâs owner, said.

WAXHAW, N.C. (The Charlotte Observer) - A woman steering a horse-drawn carriage ride was a hero for trying to fend off a pit bull that repeatedly attacked her horse in a North Carolina park, the owner of the carriage ride company said.
Terrified children on the ride screamed and cried when the dog continually bit the draft horse in its face and legs Saturday in Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw, North Carolina, in Union County, according to a video of the encounter posted on YouTube.

WAXHAW, N.C. (AP) The driver of a horse-drawn carriage in North Carolina is being credited with helping steer the horse and passengers to safety after a dog repeatedly attacked the animal as it was pulling the cart.
Bridger Medlin, the owner of the carriage ride company, said in a Facebook post Sunday that the driver tried to fend off the dog as it bit the horse on its face and legs Saturday in a Waxhaw park.
In a video of the encounter that was posted online, children onboard could be heard screaming as the dog lunged at the horse. The video showed the horse eventually kicking the dog away, before the dog collapses and someone holds it on the ground.
