Local school district representatives said they were pleased that teachers were going to be getting COVID-19 vaccines beginning next month now that the governor has expanded the state’s vaccine rollout.
“I am extremely happy,” said Bridgeport Superintendent Michael Testani. “We anticipated something like this might be coming down. We didn’t know when, but I’m glad it’s sooner than later.”

BRIDGEPORT An unknown number of municipal staffers received their COVID-19 vaccinations earlier than they should have after being signed up by the city in early January.
Mayor Joe Ganim’s office on Tuesday confirmed that, in addition to 700 emergency responders and healthcare workers, another 1,100 city employees volunteered to be registered with the federal Vaccine Administration Management System, or VAMS.
Subsequently those individuals who volunteered, once signed up with VAMS, should have received emails inviting them to schedule vaccine appointments.
