As COVID-19 cases continue in the area, officials from Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency remind residents to continue to be cautious and to get vaccinated against the virus.
“This is not the time to throw caution to the wind and be especially careful until more people are vaccinated,” health officer Rebecca Burns said in a statement. “Wearing masks, physically distancing, avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and getting vaccinated when it becomes available will help reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
The COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 was identified last week in a Branch County COVID-19-positive resident. That person has been in isolation since initial COVID-19 diagnosis. All three counties in the tri-county area have had a sample identified as the B.1.1.7 variant.
