A fire that burned 60 acres and required evacuations of Athol residents Tuesday is now under control after coordinated efforts by multiple agencies.
"It’s completely contained," Timberlake Fire Protection District Fire Chief Brandon Hermenet told The Press late Tuesday evening. "The only structures lost were an RV and an outbuilding. Other than that, no other structures were lost."
The Ridge Creek Fire is now 15% contained.
The Eastern Area Incident Management Team and U.S. Forest Service reported Tuesday the human-caused wildfire burning 3.5 miles east of the north end of Hayden Lake along Hayden Creek Road has engulfed 2,781 acres. The fire, which started Aug. 3, is being engaged by 413 personnel, 14 engines, six pieces of heavy equipment and nine crews.
A Monday night infrared flight over the Buckskin 2 Fire detected reduced heat than the day before, Idaho Panhandle National Forests officials said Monday.
