FOR several weeks, the Guisborough Salvation Army has been running its Christmas Present Appeal, looking for toys and gifts for all ages for distribution in Guisborough and east Cleveland in time for Christmas, running in conjunction with an appeal for donations of food and cash for needy families. The appeal closed last Saturday and this week Majors Antony and Fiona Mugford, along with Salvation Army members and volunteers, have been sorting through the gifts and donations, bagging them up into gift and food parcels. Toys have come from many people outside the Salvation Army, including the town supermarkets and their customers, with donations from businesses, the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, and members of Guisborough churches.
