The city is resetting its approach to balancing nightlife and safety after a series of shootings while seeking a new strategy for the mall’s central footprint covering roughly six to eight blocks. In the atmosphere of change, developers point to the stability of people still wanting to live downtown as a foundation for the area’s business future.

NORFOLK, Va. â The wings are being tossed and drinks are flowing.
Brick Anchor Brew House on Granby Street is setting the stage for Super Bowl LV.
âThereâs actually $2 off all appetizers tomorrow,â said Brick Anchor Bar Manager Stacy Sheldon. âWeâre going to do $.50 wings from 3-9 p.m. Weâve extended our happy hour.â
Health safety measures are in place.
âBring your friends, have a great time, but stay within the limits,â Sheldon said. âSometimes if we have a larger party, we can split it in two. Weâve already separated the tables quite a bit, so I think everybody will be fine. Even when weâre packed, weâre not packed like we used to be.â
