Pennsylvania SPCA seizes 187 animals — pigeons, rabbits, a miniature horse and more — from a property in Columbia Co

The donkey suffered from overgrown hooves. The sheep needed shearing. The animals lived in mud and dirt and did not have access to a grazing pasture. Officers observed concerning conditions, including unsanitary housing, a lack of potable water and an absence of veterinary care. The animals, which have yet to be surrendered by their owner to the Pennsylvania SPCA, will remain in the non-profit s care as the investigation of animal cruelty and neglect continues. The animals currently reside at the organization s Danville and Philadelphia locations and are being examined and cared for by a local large animal veterinarian and the shelter s medical team.
