Roundup: After 8 months of a six-year term, Sheldon Silver leaves prison By Edward McKinley on May 5, 2021 at 6:27 AM Former longtime state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, imprisoned on federal corruption charges last summer, has been released and could serve the rest of his six-year term from his home, it was widely reported Tuesday. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District, which prosecuted Silver through two trials, said the Manhattan federal prosecutor’s office vigorously opposes Silver’s release. (TU) With New York slated to lose a congressional seat in 2022, the House Republicans’ campaign arm added U.S. Rep.
