Kansas Children s Discovery Center s reptilian pavilion is reminiscent of Capitol Federal s original downtown building Brianna Childers, Topeka Capital-Journal © Brianna Childers KCDC s new reptilian pavillion will give visitors some much needed shade once the covering has been placed. Kansas Children s Discovery Center s newest structural addition is reminiscent of Capitol Federal s original building that stood in downtown Topeka from 1924 to 1960.  The reptilian pavilion was created by University of Kansas architecture students who drew inspiration from Kansas history and values.   The pavilion will provide shades to youths roaming the discovery center s grounds.  © Brianna Childers Keith Van De Riet, a KU School of Architecture and Design professor, said the reptilian pavilion was created with Kansas history and values in mind.

Brianna Childers, Topeka Capital-Journal © Brianna Childers Aisha Imani Sanaa Aisha Imani Sanaa was always the arts-focused kid in school. Drawing and coloring came naturally to her. Her mom and aunt served as inspiration and a source of encouragement when she was growing up. Sanaa, of Lawrence, continued to carry that spirit with her through high school and college. A few years ago, she decided to tap back into her creative side and create art that speaks to resilience, self-love and self-care.
