Pennsylvania health officials reviewing COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan for Philadelphia suburbs

YEADON, Pennsylvania (WPVI) Some Delaware County leaders are frustrated over how doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are being divided throughout the state, and argue that the county isn t getting its fair share. An analysis by the Action News Data Team shows some of Philadelphia s suburban counties are being vastly short-changed on vaccines. According to the latest data analyzed by Action News, per every 1,000 residents, Delaware County (564,554 residents) has received 134 doses; Bucks County (626,806 residents) received 168 doses; Chester County (519,560 residents) received 171 doses, and Montgomery County (823,823 residents) received 221 doses. By comparison, the state reports having sent almost 45,000 doses to Montour County, population 18,259, over the last three months. Four other smaller counties, Mifflin, Mercer, Clarion and Elk, all received more than 500 doses for every 1,000 of their residents according to state data. Out of 67 counties, Delaware County is ranked 46th.

PA COVID: Tracking the vaccine supply status in Philadelphia suburbs

NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) If you ve been trying to get the COVID-19 vaccine in suburban Philadelphia counties you may feel frustrated. Currently, the whole Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is getting on average 175,000 doses a week from the federal government for roughly 12 million Pennsylvania residents. Many in southeastern Pennsylvania are feeling the impacts of the shortage. In Delaware County, the mass vaccination site in Yeadon remains closed due to a lack of vaccine supply. I think we requested 3,000; I think we got 1,200. I mean we could do that in two days, said Delaware County Council Chairman Brian Zidek. However, he says their Aston site at the Aston Community Center is open by appointment only, but there are 24 other local vaccine providers in the county like pharmacies and doctor s offices that offer doses. County officials don t have control over those locations or how many doses they receive.

Philadelphia, Delco join emotional national tribute to COVID-19 victims

Landmarks across the country were lit in honor of the lives lost in the pandemic  from the Empire State Building in New York City to the Space Needle in Seattle. In Philadelphia, the PECO building, Boathouse Row, City Hall and Sports Complex were among the sites decorated in amber lights. Tonight, we honored the many lives lost to COVID-19 and joined communities across our country in mourning, Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted. At a time when we are all grieving, this was a much-needed moment of unity and remembrance. Philadelphia has recorded 2,730 COVID-related deaths and 104,648 confirmed cases since the pandemic began. Nationally, more than 400,000 people have died.
