Fort Payne police have charged a man with impersonating a peace officer after he allegedly pointed a gun at a motorist stopped at a traffic light, claiming to be a federal agent.
Brian Tra’Bael, 50, Fort Payne, formerly of Georgia, also is charged with second-degree possession of forged instruments and aggravated assault and menacing.
The motorist on April 28 filed a report at the Fort Payne Police Department about the alleged incident, according to a news release from the department.
He said he was following a Nissan Rogue down Beason Gap Road, and while stopped at the traffic light, the driver of the Nissan left his car with a gun in his hand and wearing a tactical vest, engaged in conversation with the motorist and claimed to be a federal agent. He then returned to the Nissan and drove off.
