Feds want $325,000 more to build pathway near Gros Ventre Roundabout

Local officials will likely need to pony up more money if they want to connect pathways near Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis to the pathway system in Grand Teton National Park. Specifically, Teton County, Grand Teton National Park and Friends of Pathways are trying to decide how to fund building a pathway stub dubbed the “Sagebrush Pathway.” If completed, it would connect the northernmost section of county trails along Spring Gulch Road to the park’s pathways near the roundabout at Gros Ventre Junction. Teton County Pathways and Trails Coordinator Brian Schilling told the News&Guide the new pathway is important because it connects two existing segments.

Pathway users rejoice as county decides to plow Hwy 22 section

After hearing concerns from the public, Teton County commissioners unlocked $6,000 to plow the Highway 22 pathway from Emily’s Pond to the Y-intersection. Plowing that section will link trails between the West Bank and Jackson, giving wintertime pathway users a way to get to and from town. Brian Schilling, Teton County’s pathways and trails coordinator, is happy about the decision. “I’m psyched to have it plowed, because I do occasionally use it,” he said, noting that it also provides kids who live in Skyline Ranch and other western neighborhoods another way to get to school. Parks and Rec will also clear the path stretching from Tribal Trail Road to Highway 22, but the segment connecting to Teton Science Schools will not be plowed.
