DEEP: Officials identify man pulled from Long Meadow Pond as Prospect resident

MIDDLEBURY A Prospect man has been identified as the missing kayaker whose body was recovered from Long Meadow Pond on Sunday morning.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Monday identified him as 26-year-old Brian Saucier.
Personnel from DEEP and several area fire department started searching Long Meadow Pond on Saturday after a report of an overturned kayak.
Officials suspended the search around 9 p.m. Saturday. Rescue operations resumed Sunday morning. Fire crews recovered Saucier’s body around 10 a.m. Sunday.

MIDDLEBURY – The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection identified the body of a kayaker found in Long Meadow Pond over the weekend as 26-year-old Brian Saucier of Prospect.
Firefighters found the body at about 10 a.m. Sunday after he was reported missing Saturday. Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brett Kales said he didn’t remember there being a larger rescue mission in town.
