four-lane traffic here. right now, chicago department of transportation crews are on the scene. they ll be grinding the deteriorating pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. hot weather today and over the past few days most likely caused this to happen. earlier this evening, several sections of the southbound lanes of lakeshore drive had some deterioration due to the intense heat that we ve been having. as a precaution, the city closed down the southbound lanes from roosevelt road to the stephenson. our crews are arriving on site as we speak and will be performing the pavement repairs this evening. our plan is to have the southbound lanes reopened to traffic either tonight or definitely by the morning rush tomorrow. reporter: and brian tells me that this happens a couple of times a year with the chicago department of transportation crews having to come out and fix the pavement with these 90-day 90-degree days that we ve been having, it s most likely and definitely t
