Off-the-pace was the recipe for success for driver Gilles Barrieau as he prevailed in both pacing features Saturday evening (Dec. 31) on a special New Year’s Eve Program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Dec 10, 2020 CORTLAND Christopher J. Ahladis, 53, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at home surrounded by his wife and sister, after battling colon cancer. He was born May 18, 1967, in Warren, the son of the late James and Elizabeth “Betty” Gates Ahladis and was a lifelong area resident. Christopher graduated from Lakeview High School in Cortland in 1985. He served in the Navy from 1985 to 1989 as a hospital corpsman at Naval Hospital San Diego, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. and aboard the USS Tuscaloosa-LST 1187. After the Navy, he went to culinary school in San Diego, Calif. then went on to work at hotels and restaurants before becoming an over-the-road truck driver for 22 years. He was a driver instructor for TDDS Technical School and Schneider National. He drove for Transport America, Schneider, J.B. Hunt and FedEx Ground.
