More affordable housing, small businesses, living-wage jobs and waterfront access in Superior could all be improved. Areas where the city should focus its efforts are the East End waterfront and North End, according to a survey of 497 people who live and work in Superior.
The survey was conducted to provide a vision for the steering committee that is working to update the city’s comprehensive plan.
The plan update will create a 20-year vision for Superior. It will serve as a guide for decisionmakers for community, physical, social and economic growth for at least the next decade. Outdoor enthusiasts, bird lovers and citizen scientists are being sought to take part in the St. Croix River Association’s annual bald eagle count.
From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, participants are asked to report bald eagle sightings within the 7,760-square-mile St. Croix River watershed. The area stretches across states from Solon Springs, Cable and Hayward on the Wisconsin side to Moose Lake, Mora and McGrath in Minnesota. It reaches as far south as Prescott and River Falls, Wisconsin, and north to Minnesota Highway 210, encompassing familiar waterways such as the Eau Claire, Totogatic and Namekagon rivers.
