Good to be with you. Miss woodruff lets start with the basics. Where are we right now in the country in the battle against covid19. If you are asked for a status report, what would you say . Dr. Fauci i would say it is a mixed bag. The numbers are very serious and very concerning. We have had now over 185,000 death, sixplus million infections. The country, a large country, there are some areas doing very well right now, got hitarly those that badly early on. For instance, the new york metropolitan area has for at least one month now been less than 1 test positivity. In contrast in other parts of the country, particularly what we saw in some of the Southern States that had big surges when they tried to open up the economy, that brought our baseline number of daily infections up from 20,000 a day to as high as 70,000, we are back now to 30000 and 40,000. Bill that they passed a couple months ago, but also even smaller than the one that was closer to 1 trillion back in july put over by republicans. It would include some cuts to the cares act to help offset the cost. The whole goal was to coalesce the republican conference around one bill, open to get at least one vote and it seems like you will get that. Host when it comes to the justification of the small figure, go deeper into the majority leaders thinking. A lot of republicans have been concerned about the amount of spending that has taken place, at least 3 trillion. If you take the cares act as a , and a lot of that money had not even been set out yet and so remained in the treasury. A lot of republicans have said lets see and wait until that money is spent first. This particular bill that republicans are putting forward now would sort of fill the gap.
