Women s Weekend Watch: NCAA First & Second Round Preview, Part II

Syracuse, N.Y. Loyola vs. Hofstra Loyola (11-2) punched its ticket to the NCAAs by winning its fifth Patriot League championship in seven years last weekend. The Greyhounds have won at least one NCAA Tournament game in seven of its eight appearances under head coach Jen Adams and last made the quarterfinals in 2015. Hofstra (6-6), which earned an at-large bid, is making its first appearance in the tournament since 2007. Livy Rosenzweig paces the Greyhounds in goals (32), assists (42), points (74) and draws (73). Jillian Wilson (23 G, 16 A, 61 DC, 17 CT) also knows how to stuff a stat sheet. Loyola ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense (7.69) and is anchored by goalie Kaitlyn Larsson (7.84 GAA, .519 save percentage). Larsson’s GAA is fourth in Div. I.

The freshman darted through the eight-meter arc and ripped the ball into Vanderbilt’s net.  Goalkeeper Lexie de Roziere stretched from post to post but couldn’t stop the speedy shot. Florida then led 8-0 early.  The Commodore goalkeeper allowed three goals in four minutes until Paige Gunning replaced her in the cage.

Gators lacrosse drown the Vanderbilt Commodores Florida improves to 7-0 in the AAC Sarah Reznick guards her net during a rainy conference affair Friday against Vanderbilt Florida’s net stood alone unguarded.  Goalkeeper Sarah Reznick left her cage wide open. Reznick’s 5’2 frame couldn’t dart down the field fast enough. Attacker Callie Sundin sprinted from Vanderbilt’s defensive end until she reached the restraining line. Sundin wound her stick back and ripped the ball into the back of the polyester net.  The Commodores’ bench erupted in cheers.  Lightning crackled in the Gainesville sky, but the Gators refused to back down.

Florida lacrosse prepares for top 20 matchup against Vanderbilt The Gators hope to improve to 7-0 in the AAC. The Gators look to stay in the win column versus the Vanderbilt Commodores Friday.  This marks the 13th matchup between the AAC foes. The last time they faced off was in May 2019 when UF defeated Vanderbilt 19-10.  No. 10 Florida was projected to clinch the conference championship with a roster full of all-conference and all-American threats. But No. 20 Vanderbilt sits at first in the conference and looks to pressure the orange and blue as they boast a 6-0 AAC record.  The Gators swept East Carolina April 1 and 3 on Thursday, which marked Florida’s 100th regular-season win at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Similarly, the Commodores demolished the Old Dominion Monarchs in back-to-back double-digit wins.
