reaction from what the president said overnight at this political rally mocking christine blasy ford. this mocking attack on a powerfully elegant survivor of sexual assault is a mark of disregard and disrespect. it shows dramatically why sexual assault is one of the most underreported crimes in the country. one-third of all women are survivors, but only a fraction come forward, because of the kind of public shaming and character assassination and other kinds of attacks that the president exemplified in this mocking of dr. blasey ford. so it s really a larger illustration of how far this country still has to go and frankly it undercuts the brett kavanaugh investigation because it reinforces the kind of
sexually assaulted, including rapes, i do think people have this sense during that time that, a, they wouldn t be taken seriously. where do we get this idea? let s go back to the clip of donald trump who is trapped in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s. i think there are a lot of people that still feel that today because there are a lot of people in this country who will mock you and say there is no way this could have happened because you would have reported it or remembered more details. it is not just donald trump that is saying this. this is a lot of people that i know personally and otherwise respect and i see them coming to the defense of brett kavanaugh and making this argument. if you see people doing that, why would you come forward? great point. and you also hear lots of people, certainly the president on down, saying that it s actually men who are being falsely accused and men that are the victims here. so let s bring in cnn political commentator, proud republican, or was at one t
it will change their votes? i think let s take susan collins. if she votes against kavanaugh, she will get primaried on her right. what i know about maine politics, she will probably lose. it becomes a question about whether her seat is more important than her principles. that s a hard decision for a politician. linda, joe, laura, thank you all very much for the great conversation. it could come as soon as today. what do senators want to see when the fbi releases its final report on brett kavanaugh? we asked independent senator, angus king, next. set your seat height to its maximum level. bravo, tall meeting man. start winning today. book now at lq.com start winning today. if it feels like you live in the bathroom with recurring constipation and belly pain, talk to your doctor and say yesss! to linzess.
we saw the hearing where they are lobbing grenades on either sides and somewhere in the middle you have witnesses the american people want to hear from. that s much different than a witness sitting in front of a pair of fbi agents and going through a thoughtful interview, gathering information, asking follow-up questions. again, it shows the distinction between politics and law enforcement. i think the rest of the country is sitting there waiting for the review and information to come to light. again, we have the artificial one-week deadline placed on the fbi to conduct this investigation, and with so many new questions coming up, so many new potential witnesses we don t know if the fbi will get through that, through the thorough review or if they will be limited to what the white house initially set as far as the parameters they can look at. josh campbell, thank you very much. just ahead, we will have more on the fbi investigation of brett kavanaugh, what s in it, when will senators
indelible to her was the laughter of the boys in the room, i ve also been thinking a lot about the women who confronted senator flake earlier in the week. they said to him, crying, and very emotional, obviously, that they feel like their voices are not heard, that when they say they are victims, they don t feel like, particularly men, are hearing them and people in power are hearing them so you have to think about these women and what they must be thinking when they see the president of the united states making light of this alleged assault, and i think we just have to call it for what it is, and it is callous and it is cruel and it is completely lacking in empathy. well, we should also note, regardless of whether you believe christine blasey ford or brett kavanaugh and the white house s defense of what president trump said last night was that he was just telling the facts about what happened. but he actually wasn t. he said that she could only remember that she had one beer but she
