Taiwan’s strongest earthquake in a quarter century rocked the island during the morning rush hour on Wednesday, damaging buildings and causing the deaths of four people.
A contractor discovered what appears to be a human bone while surveying a construction site near Camp Schwab, a Marine Corps base on Okinawa, according to the Okinawa Defense Bureau.
Ikemiya Shokai Co. Ltd., a printing and scanning company in Naha, Okinawa, contacted the Marine Corps last year with an offer to create an interactive computer model of the old U.S. naval hospital on Camp Lester, company president Taku Ikemiyagi said Aug. 24. The final product would work similar to Google Street View.
The contact cards are “an effort to cut through any confusion and ensure all of us understand required steps and have critical points of contact on hand in an emergency situation,” III MEF commander Lt. Gen. James W. Bierman said in a June 8 message.
