Former Vice President Mike Pence is recuperating after undergoing a heart procedure. The 61-year-old went under the knife on Wednesday, April 14 to implant a peacemaker after experiencing symptoms associated with a slow heart rate.

FALLS CHURCH, Virginia–Former Vice President Mike Pence is recovering from surgery after getting a pacemaker. Pence’s office announced a pacemaker was implanted after he started experiencing a slow heart rate.
The procedure was conducted at a Fairfax Medical Campus in Northern Virginia and Pence’s office says a full recovery is expected. Pence is 61. He was previously diagnosed with a heart condition known as an “asymptomatic left bundle branch block.”
The condition is a malfunction that causes a lag or interruption of the electrical signal that regulates heartbeat.
